Quick and Easy Furniture Assembly Tips You Need to Know

While we are always happy to take the stress of building your flat-pack furniture, we understand that you sometimes want to tap into your inner ninja and tackle the task yourself. With that in mind, we have compiled some furniture assembly tips to help you on your journey to becoming your very own Flat Pack Ninja. You shouldn’t expect to be a master straight away but your skills will start to improve with practice

1. The Prep Work

Before diving into the build, prepare your environment. If you can, clear a spacious area as you’ll need room for all those parts and pieces. Lay out an old blanket or sheet to protect your floor if necessary. And most importantly, put your favourite playlist on. A good playlist can transform this from a chore into an enjoyable experience.

2. Tool Time

While that tiny Allen wrench normally included in the box is cute, it’s not always practical to use. Here’s a list of tools that will make your life a little easier;

3. Organize Like Marie Kondo

This is one of the furniture assembly tips that might not seem that important, but trust and believe, it will make your work smoother. If you’ve ever watched Marie Kondo at work, you will know how much joy tidiness can bring. Lay out all the pieces and organize them by size and type. If the instruction manual looks like it was drawn by a toddler, compare your pieces to the pictures carefully. Group the screws, bolts in separate containers so you don’t lose anything.

4. Step-by-Step Strategy

Read through the entire instruction manual once before starting. Yes, I know it’s boring, but it helps to have an overview of the steps before getting started. That way you should develop an instinct to recognise if things start going wrong. Follow the steps methodically. It’s tempting to skip ahead, but that’s a shortcut to disaster.

5. Fellow Ninja

If you can, enlist a friend. Not only do extra hands help, but you also get the bonus of someone to laugh with when you realize you’ve built your chair upside down. (True story: it happens to the best of us.) Don’t feel bad if things go wrong the first time. Mistakes are the best way for us to learn.

6. Tape is Your New BFF

Painter’s tape is great for holding pieces in place temporarily. It’s also useful for marking which parts go where, especially when instructions are vague. You shouldn’t normally have this problem with Ikea products as their instructions are generally clear but some of the other manufacturers can be a bit iffy. The great thing about painter’s tape is that it will come away without too much fuss.

7. The Final Touch

Before declaring victory, make sure everything is level. Use a spirit level or a leveling app on your phone. An unlevel piece can lead to wobbles, and no one wants a wobbly wardrobe.

8. Celebrate Your Victory: You’ve Earned It!

Once the last piece is in place, step back and admire your handiwork. Take a selfie with your newly assembled masterpiece. You did it! You are on your way to becoming a ninja

Remember, each flat-pack you conquer is a badge of honor. And with these furniture assembly tips, you’re well on your way to becoming a furniture assembly ninja. Happy assembling!
